Fred She Said - A teacup of pansies

I coloured some of the new release pansies from Fred She Said the other day so thought it was about time I made a card with them.
I followed the sketch at Create 4 Fun for this one and used the Teacup and Pansies digi and also 3 single panisies from the Line of Pansies Digi set. As the name suggests, the line of pansies set has a line of pansies lol, but it also has some single pansies with and without leaves and some leaves on their own as well. You can see both sets here. Tracey has also done some coloured versions too, perfect if you need to make a card in a hurry, you can just print, cut and stick :)

So here's my card. Sorry about the pic, the colours look a bit washed out here.

The base paper is Anna Griffin and the strip is a freebie I got in a magazine a while back.
The pansies and teacup are coloured with Polychromos pencils and Sansodor.
I've kept the card simple to show off the pretty pansies but I did print the teacup image twice and cut out the pansies so I could layer them on top of the main image.

Here's a close up of the teacup so you can see the dimension better.

It's miserable weather here in Aberdeen, it's stopped raining today but it's still sooo cold. At least the white stuff is gone though! Just hope it doesn't come back!!
I've got loads to do today for DT work and also the By The Cute and Girly challenge Design Team call ends tomorrow, so I have been busy looking at all the blogs of everyone who has applied. I know it's going to be so hard to choose just a few dt members from all the people who have applied!
If you would like to apply to be on the By The Cute and Girly team, you have until tomorrow to do so. All you need to do is email me with a link to your blog (or somewhere else I can see your work) and tell me about about yourself (because I'm nosey lol) and what kinds of crafts you do.
Remember By The Cute and Girly challenge is for all kind of crafters, not just card makers so you can apply no matter what craft you like to do :)
And this is also the last day for you to get your entires into this months "Love" challenge and there will be a new challenge posted in the morning, so you better get your skates on if you want to enter before the ne challenge is posted.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Digital Tuesday and Fred She Said DT card

It's Lorraine's turn to host the challenge at Digital Tuesday this week and she has chose "A card for Mum" as the challenge. This could be a Mother's Day card or a Birthday card for a Mum or anything else that is for a Mum.
As my own Mum died 20 years ago, I decided to make a card for my MIL.
This is not my normal style of card but she likes flowers, so I think she will like this.
I must apologise yet again for the poor photo! I took it last night adn there was just no light at all. I can't wait for Spring to come!!

I followed the sketch over at Charisma Cardz for this one.
The carnation image is one of the new releases from Fred She Said which I have coloured with my pencils and oms and then added some glitter crystal laquer to all the petals so it is raised and shimmery.
The papers are K&Co, they are from different collections but I think they go well together.
I used scraps of K&Co paper to punch some flowers using a Dovecraft punch and a tiny flower punch that I have had in my stash forever, but I have no idea who makes it. Pearls are from my stash and gems are My Minds Eye. The sentiment is just done in Word, but I later remebered that FSS has a Mother's Day sentiment that is much prettier than this, so I think I will change that.

I have lots to do today so better get cracking!
Thanks for stoppin by.

Fred She Said and Cute Daisy May challenges

Time for a new challenge over at the Fred She Said Challenge blog and this months theme is "Love", we want to see at least 3 hearts on your creation.
You have until March 28th to get your entry in so loads of time. You must use a FSS image on your creation to enter but if you don't have any, there are loads of freebies which you can check out here, but Tracey has so many great new pretty things that I know you will want to buy some too :)
So here's my card for the challenge.

I used the Corner Rose Digi which is one of the new releases. I resised it (sorry can't remember what % I scaled it to) and printed it out 3 times, then coloured with polychromos pencils and Sansodor and cut them out, cutting the leaves and a bit of the rose off the second image and a bit more off the 3rd so I could decoupage them. You can really see the layers here due to my rubbish photography skills but there is 3 layers on it.
I also added some glitter crystal laquer on bits of the rose the spritzed the whole thing with glimmer mist, so it's nice and sparkly :)
The main papers I have used are K&Co and the spotty piece is Bo Bunny. The flowers are Primas, heart charm from my stash, spacer and ribbon are from my local craft shop and the hearts are ones made from handmade paper that I found in my stash. They looked a bit plain so I some pearls around them to make them stand out a bit more.

My next card is for Cute Daisy May and this weeks challenge is "Flower Power"

I followed the sketch over at Sketch and Stash for this one, with the addition of a few flowers (well the theme is flower power after all lol).
The image is coloured again with my pencils and oms. The papers are Anna Griffin and K&Co , flowers are Primas and two of them are from Tabby Crafts, and the lace which is my new stash is some that Barry bought me when he was in town last week. I could say a lot of bad things about him (he is a male of course lol), but I must admit that he always comes home with something for me if he is in town without me, sometimes it's just some glue and other times he comes back with loads of ribbon or some buttons but he always surprises me with something crafty :)
Oh and the little green gems are some I got from a fellow blogger and are by My Minds Eye.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will join in with the challenges.
As always Linnie will give the winner of the Cute Daisy May challenge there choice of oine of her digi sheets and over at Fred She Said, Tracey will give the winner a $20 gift certificate to spend in the FSS store!! So if you have your eye on any of those new releases or any of the older stuff (because they are just all fab!), now's your chance to win some :)

A few challenge cards and some pics of the kids

I must warn you that this will be a long post and has loads of pics so you better make yourself a cuppa and get yourself comfy before proceeding to read lol.
I done a few challenge cards today using the new stamps I bought from Funky Kits a few weeks ago.The first card is for The Sugar Bowl and it's a sketch by Tiets and the "please include" option is 3 flowers, 2 brads and 1 button.

The image is of course Sugar Nellie "Peek A Bunny" which I bought in the January sale. I couldn't resist buying most of the sale stamps as they were such good value for money!
I couldn't get a very good photo of this one but I find every time I use this muted kind of colours, I can never get a good pic for some reason, and the image lines look very dark in places but they are not like that IRL...weird.
Anyway the papers are K&Co, flowers are Prima and Tabby Crafts and brads, spacers and button are from my stash.
The image is coloured with Polychromos Pencils and Sansodor.
My next card is for Stamp With Fun where they have a great sketch. I rotated the sketch to fit my image better.
I'm not sure about this card because it's colours that I never normally use and I also used some sheet music which I don't think I have ever used either, but here it is anyway.
The image is one of the new Sugar Nellie Manga Girls and this one is called "Coffee Time". I coloured her with my pencils and Sansodor.
The papers are from Basic Grey's Scarlet Letter collection and the sheet music is from an old viola music book. Just in case you were wandering, I don't play the viola and never have lol.
We were visiting Barry's Mum and Dad on Monday and there is a charity shop across the road from their house and I saw the book when I was passing so I nipped in and bought it lol. It's amazing what you can do with other peoples rubbish lol.
I distressed the edges of all the papers and inked them with brushed corduroy distress ink.
The sketch had a stitched circle on it but my sewing machine in broken so I wasn't going to attempt stitching a circle by hand (I have enough trouble stitching in a straight line!!), so I used some pearls from my stash instead. The lace is from a local haberdashery and the red organza ribbon is by Dovecraft. For a change I made a faux bow :)

My last card is one I did for fun, just because I wanted to ink up my new CC designs stamp lol.

I'm not sure about this card either but thought I would show it anyway.
I got a pack of about 300 tiny spacers months ago that are too small to use on most flowers, so I wanted to find other ways of using then up instead of binning them, so I used them to make some swirls. The papers are Papermania, flowers are Prima and Tabby Craft, large spacer and pearl from my stash and the image "Gretel" is coloured with my pencils and oms and I used some glitter for her wings.

Now that's all the cards done, but I thought I would show you some pics of the kids that I took at their Nana's house on Monday :)
I took these just after they came back from getting pics done at the photographers.
Barry's Mum wanted a photo of the 3 of them together so she paid for a photographer so she could get a big decent pic of them all :)

They are all of Liam and Chiara except this one of Rhianna raiding her Nana's fridge! This is just after she raided Nana's make up bag lol. She has some make up on here (which she did herself) but by the time we left, she looked like a clown lol.

Liam had a headache and had went for a lie down, this is him after he just woke up. Bed head lol.
He normally has his hair short but he is growing it just now. I think he's only growing it to annoy his Dad because he keeps moaning at him to get his hair cut!

Liam posing!!

Liam and Chiara playing Ring A Rosie with Ted lol. Liam will be so embarrassed when he finds out I have showed these pics on my blog lol.

"We all fall down"!

Chiara with "Traveling Ted" from her nursery.

How cute is this kid??

I have loads more but I will save them for another day. I really shoulddo a scrapbook for some of these pics but I have never done any scrapbooking before so have no idea where to start......maybe one day :)

Hope I have not bored you with all the pics but I had to show them, who can resist that 3 cute faces?? I am sooo biased lol

Tuesday 16 February 2010

Digital Tuesday has went all girly!

It's my turn to host the challenge this week over at Digital Tuesday and I chose our theme to be "All Things Girly", did you expect anything else from me? lol
Digisparkle is our sponsor this week and is offering a £10 voucher for 2 winners to use at theor digital store.
Heather the owner also gave the Dt the option of using any of her downloads for the chalenge, so I picked the Ballerina download, there's nothing more girly that a ballerina is there?

The paper is Papermania and the bit I used for the mat is by Anna Griffin.
I coloured the image with Polychromos Pencils and Sansodor then added a little bit of tulle over her skirt and a little bit of silver ribbon to hide where I stitched to get the tulle to bunch together to make it puffy.
The flowers are a mix from my stash, Joanna Sheen and Tabby Crafts, organza ribbon from a box of chocs lol, swrils were done with my All Night Media singlw swirl punch and I just put a few of the swirl together and the little ballerina charm is one I found in my stash.

Here's a close up of the image so you can see her tutu skirt better :)

I had fun making this card and would love you to comment and tell me what you think of it :)

Thanks for stopping By

Cute Daisy May DT

It's the start on another week, (how did the weekend go so fast?) and there's a new challenge for you over at Cute Daisy May. This week the theme is "Bright and Cheerful" and I think it's just what we need to brighten our day with all the dreadful weather we are having!

I have used 2 of the images from sheet 186. I coloured the bird with Polychromos Pencils and Sansodor and a little glitter for it's perch and done the whole cage in gold glitter with the
exception of the bows which were coloured with my pencils.
Although I love all the Cute Daisy May girls, it makes a nice change to use something different now and again and I thought this cage was so pretty :) I just cut the little birdie out and stuck him on top of the cage.

I'm not sure who makes the main paper I used but it is double sided and the bits I used for the matting is the other side of the sheet.
The middle strip is from a K&Co mat stack and the piece the image is on is another K&Co paper.
Flowers are Prima and some orange ones I found in my stash, ribbon is some that Barry bought me and it's glittery:) How well does he know me?? lol, and the gold metal spray thing is from a local florist warehouse. I just unwraped some of the wire which was twisted around each other and made some little swirls.
I really like these sprays because I haven't seen anyone else using them (I like to be different lol) and they are so easy to twist and shape and of course because they are pretty :) They are actually much nicer in real life than they look in the pic and the beads realy sparkle :)

Well that my offering for this week. I hope you will join in and go look out all those bright papers that you have had forever and if you are scared of colour like I am!, you have probably been too scared to use lol.

If you are here for the Fred She Said blog hop which start today! please see post below.

If you are a regular visitor to my blog, you will know that my favourites are the cute characters Tracey draws, but who doesn't love flowers as well?? And Tracey has lots of new flowery stuff being released today for you to drool over. I know I will just have to have a play with all of them :)

Here is my "Fred She Said" creation:

Sorry the pic is so bright! I took it outside first thing this morning for a change and everything i s sooo bright lol.
This little cutie is "Emma With A Sign" and comes double sided (you get her facing the front and facing away, just showing the back of her) so you could make some wonderfull projects with this one :) The flowers I have used also come with this set.
I have used the You Are A Blessing text, but there is other variations and also a blank sign so you can add what you like. Tracey has even said that you can email her if you want a different sentiment and she will do it for you! (as long as it fits in the space), how cool is that??!!

I have just used the front facing Emma as I have been so busy the last few days and didn't have time to make what I had originaly planned using both front and back of Emma, but I will get a sample done using both over the next few days :)
I coloured Emma and the flowers with my Polychromos pencils and Sansodor and I used some white glitter on Emma on her sash and flower and some pink flocking powder in the middle of the flowers.
I followed the sketch over at Cutie Sunday except used a rectangle to stick Emma on because it fitted better than a square.
The papers are DCWV and I used some scraps of some glittered K&Co paper to punch the swirls with an All Night Media punch.
Ribbon and pearls are from my stash.

Now the special code word you need from me is:

FLOWERS

Digital Tuesday DT card

It's Ellie's turn to host the challenge this week over at Digital Tuesday and she has chose "It's All About The Animals" for her challenge.
Digital Stamp Oasis (which is owned by Ellie) is our sponsor this week and the winner will get 3 images of their choice from the DSO store. If you haven't checked out DSO before, then this is the perfect time, Ellie's husband draws the images and there are some really cute animals to choose from.
I was going to use a DSO image on my card today but I was looking online for some colouring pages for my kids to keep them occupied while I made some cards and I came across some really cute images and they were all for free! Can't get better than that! So I saved some and decided I would use one for this weeks challenge.I didn't take a note of the site but as soon as I find it again, I will update this post with a link.
So here's my DT card.

I don't know what happened when I took this pic but the bottom part of the paperlook a different colour to the top! In real life it is all the same colour as the top bit.
I coloured the cute bunnies with polychromos pencils and sansodor. I still need to practise loads but I am getting there, slowly but surely! The papers are K&Co and I used my Fiskars border punch on the green strip. And added some lace from my stash.
I have loads of flowers which have been abandoned because I have been using roses for most of my cards and I really haven't used much Primas for ages (except yesterdays card lol), so I decided the other day that I would try to use up some of the flowers in my stash before buying any more because my flower box (which is huge by the way) is full, so much so that I can't get the lid on properly lol, so I went digging and found these light pink flowers which I had got off Ebay months ago when I bought a huge lot of flowers that someone was selling because they gave up crafting! I don't know what kind they are? and I never thought I would ever use them on a card because of their shape but I thought I would try use them anyway and I kinda like how they look now they are on a card :) I also used some little asters which I got in the same lot and an old Prima, then just when I thought I was being good, I spotted a large rose and just had to use it lol and of course my pearl sprays which I have sooo much of had to come out to play too lol.
I sprayed all the flowers with iridescent gold glimmer mist to add some shimmer and added a pin from Tabby Crafts which I really do want more of because I only have 1 or 2 of this ones left :(
I haven't been using spacers and charms much lately either so my charm box came out and I found an old spacer which I got from John Lewis months ago and a cute little teddy bear charm and finished off with a Papermania brad.
Here's a close up of the cute bunnies :) sorry it's a bit blurry (I must figure out how to use all the different settings on my camera!)

I don't have a craft room so my stuff has to be out away in boxes and there's not much room, so I don't have a big stash but I was actually really surprised at how much bits and bobs I have that have never been used or I have bought and forgot about! But I am going to try use up all the little bits I have before buying more :)
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you will join in with this weeks challenge.
I'm off to try get some Valentines cards made for orders I got from the school this morning. I am so sick of Valentines cards already and have at least 10 more to make!! Never mind, it's money :)
As always your comments are much appreciated :) Your comments are what motivates me to keep blogging so please do leave one to let me know you have dropped by :)

Cute Daisy May DT

The challenge over at Cute Daisy May this week is Lavender and Lace.
Well they didn't have to tell me twice for this challenge! I love using lace on my cards as my regular visitors have probably noticed lol and purple/lavender is one of my fave colours :)
Here's what I came up with.

I followed the sketch at Create For Fun although my image is oval and not a circle and my image was a bit too big so I had to overlap it on my borders slightly, but apart from that, I followed the sketch as it is, then of course added flowers, I just can't help myself lol.
The papers are Papermania and Bassil Bling. I used my Fiskars scalloped punch to create the borders. The image is of course a Cuet Daisy May, I think this one is from sheet 166, and I coloured her with a mix of Polychromos pencils and oms and Copics.
The flowers are a mix of Primas, little roses from my stash and the bigger roses are from a local florist warehouse as is the pearl sprays. The little star spacer which you can hardly see in this pic because it is so dark (in fact you can't really see the flowers very well at all and they look so much darker here than in real life) are from my local craft shop Holburn Crafts in Aberdeen. Lace is from local haberdashery, I promise I am not sponsored by my local shops lol.
Pearl brads are by papermania and the charm is from The Works. Oh and I used a little Snag Em Stamps clear stamp for stamping around my image.

I hope you will have a rummage in your stash for some pretty lace and join in with this weeks challenge.
Thanks for stopping by.

I'm in love with new digi's!!

Yes it's official I am in love with Di's digi stamps! Di was so kind to give me one of her digi's to try and now I think she has gave me a new addiction!
She only opened her shop in December but I know she will be hugely popular because her images are just the sweetest.
Enough of my blabbering though, I will let you see for yourself!

What do you think of this little cutie? I can't believe I hadn't discovered this little beauties before now!! And there is so much more images like this in her store. You have just got to check them all out.
I followed the sketch over at Sketch and Stash for this one and of course the image is my new stash :)
The paper I have used is by We R Memory Keepers (double sided and I used both sides).
I coloured the image which is called "Little Bunches Maisy With Kaboodle" with Polychromos pencils and Sansodor. The mat she is on is cut by hand. I don't have any label nesties but I had small label die cut that a friend had sent me, so I thought I could trace around that onto patterned paper and cut it out, but.....it was too small (just my luck lol), so I traced round the shape anyway then just followed the lines and cut it a tad bigger. I wish I had cut it bigger because it is still too small but I knew I would never be able to cut a bigger one without it looking all wonky lol, so I just used it as it was. Sorry that was a bit of a novel just to say I cut it out with scissors lol.
Ribbon is from my local craft shop (Holburn Crafts in Aberdeen), lace is from my local haberdashery, small roses are from my stash, large rose from Hobbycraft. pin from Tabby Crafts and the pearl spray and gold spray are both from a local florist warehouse.

Tilda, Hearts and Flowers.

I got a chance to make a card last night when the kids went to bed so I decided to do a card for a challenge. I already had a Tilda coloured which I done the other night so I went to check out the Just Magnolia challenge which is hearts and flowers and it just so happens that Tilda has a heart on her dress...perfect! Then I saw the fab sketch at A Spoonfull Of Sugar which also has hearts in it so I combined them both :)

The papers I have used on this one are by We R Memory Keepers. The base one is all glittery but I covered most of it up and I used the other strip because it's a paper from the same collection and it has some blue in the pattern so though I would use that to tie in with the blue I coloured Tilda but I covered most of the blue up and the parts you can see looks a totally different colour here! pmsl, why do I even bother? I should just use plain paper lol. Oh well I know it's there even if nobody else does lol.
Moving swifty on, I coloured Tilda with Polychromos pencils and Sansodor. I thought I was getting a bit better with the pencils but now I'm not so sure lol. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and I punched it out with SU! punches. The large heart is a really old stamp (1995 in fact!!) I bought it when I first started stamping from my local craft shop who used to have a second hand stamp box and I spotted this one in amongst a few House Mouse stamps (which obviously I had to buy too lol) and I thought it would come in handy for valentines day. It says on the side Darcie's Country Folk (whoever they are). I think it's quite pretty and it just goes to show that you don't need the newest stamps to make a card, she says as she pairs it with a Tilda lol, but she is not a new Tilda ;)
The other heart is just cut freehand from some paper scraps I had left over, the little roses are from my stash and the other ones and the tulle are both from Tabby crafts.

It's still snowing here so I'm not going anywhere! In fact I am going to sit stamp and then colour some of my new stamps that I got from Funky kits yesterday :) Think you will be seeing a lot of Sugar Nellie cards on my blog over the next few days lol.

Thanks for stopping by today. Please do leave me a comment if you have a min to let me know you have popped by. Then I can come visit you ;)
I must apologise for my lack of commenting this last few weeks, I been having trouble leaving comments and also uploading pictures on blogger over the last few weeks so I haven't been able to comment much, but I have been visiting and looking at all your fab creations :)
I think it's sorted itself out so I will have to do a mega blog hopping session to get around everyone today me thinks :)

Digital Tuesday DT

The challenge over at Digital Tuesday was picked by Anjou who want's to see different folded cards (tri fold, joy fold, gatefold etc). Our sponsor this week is Bee Crafty who also let the DT pick an image each to use.

I took the easy option and made an easel card.
I have never used this colour combo before, in fact if you said pink, brown and orange to me, I would of thought ewww that does go but I saw these Bo BUnny papers in my local craft shop last week and thought they were quite nice. I think I actually like them because they are not the usual kind of colours you see together.
I coloured the cute Bee Crafty image with poly pencils and OMS . ribbon is from my local craft shop (Holburn Crafts in Aberdeen) and some from my stash. The gorgeous rose is from Hobbycraft and the pin is one from Tabby Crafts.

It's snowing here again so I'm not going anywhere. Instead I think I will do a little blog hopping and see what you have all been up to.
Thanks for stopping by.

By The Cute and GIrly - Love

I'm a bit later than planned (ok a lot later) but I had to get the Cute and Girly winners post done so had to do that first, but better late than never.I have to warn you though, this is gonna be quite a long post!
The challenge over at By The Cute and Girly this month is LOVE, so a nice easy one and I'm sure there will be loads of other challenge blogs doing the love theme over the next few weeks so you will be able to combine your entries with some of those as well :)
This month I only made a card and altered a candle tin but the other girls have loads more eye candy for you as always, so pop on over and see what they have been up to.

So here's the card I made.

Isn't this image just the sweetest? I love it! I don't know who makes this stamp as I got the image in a blog candy win ages ago, so if you know who makes the stamp, please do let me know. I coloured the image with Copics, but the paper it was stamped on is rough like watercolour paper so it was really difficult to blend. I also got some gorgeous Hanglars and some Magnolias, WOJ and some other images when I got this one but I can't really user them as the paper they are stamped on is rougher than this one and I have started to use my pencils most of the time and just doesn't blend :( even with the copics, it is really hard to colour them, hence why I haven't used them yet.
The paper I have used is Papermania from the Exquisite stack. I didn't do loads of layers on this card because it's quite a big image, instead I just added strip across the middle with some lace from my stash on top.
The flowers are a mix of Prima, one from my stash and the little roses are ones I made myself with some ribbon because I couldn't find little flowers to match my papers and I wanted roses. I did find some little roses like this in a similar colour afterwards though so I could of saved myself the trouble of making them if I just looked a bit harder lol. I made a few extra as well so I can use them another day.
The pearl spray is from a local florist warehouse and I sprayed all the flowers with some glimmer mist to give them some sparkle.

I took a few pics of the candle tin and didn't know which one to show, so I am showing you a few instead lol.

The lid.

The next one is the back of the tin.And I promise this is the last one lol. This one is the front side.

I was going to take a pic of the tin before I covered it but I forgot lol. It's just a little tin that has a scented candle inside and the lid was see through which I was going to leave but I decided to use the sweet Tilda instead.

The paper is Stampin Up, image of course is a Magnolia. I got this stamps from a very sweet blogging friend (thanks hunni xx) as she knew I didn't have any Magnolias of my own.
I coloured Tilda with Polychromos Pencils and Sansodor then cut her out with my nesties. I did want to use the whole image but she didn't fit :(
The lace, ribbon and heart are from my stash, and the flowers are from Tabby Crafts and The Works.
I finished it off with some pearl beading which I also found in my stash. I have no idea where it came from but it came in handy for this and the FSS heart box I made last week :)

Right I think I might have put you to sleep by now, that's if you even made it to the bottom! lol, so will sign off now and will be back tomorrow for Digital Tuesday.

Cute Daisy May DT - Valentines

Good morning, hope you are all having better weather than I am here in Aberdeen! It's snowing again and doesn't look like it's in any hurry to stop so think I will just have to stay indoors and craft all day :)

This weeks challenge over at Cute Daisy May is Valentines with Pink and a neutral colour.

My ribbon looks peach here but it is actually the same colour as the pink on the bottom paper. Why does that happen?? I mean, I know it's because of my pants photography lol, but why does the colour change on just one thing sometimes and not the whole card? Oh well at least it matches IRL lol.
The base paper I have used on this one is by Anna Griffin and the mat Daisy is on is a lovely glittery paper by We R Memory Keepers, but of course I went and covered up the glitter and pretty pattern! Did you expect anything less from me? lol
Daisy is coloured with Polychromos pencils and Sansodor. I think I am getting a litte better with the pencils:)
The ribbon is one Barry got me the other day from the haberdashery in town and the flowers and pearl sprays are from a local florist warehouse.

Well that's it for the card, but I will be back soon with my DT stuff for By The Cute and Girly.

Thanks for stopping by
Lora x
